Immigrants in Canada are required to keep their PR cards with them all the time. It allows them to travel within the country and outside it too, very freely. The PR card makes you eligible to access all the facilities given to a Canadian resident. This card works as proof of your residency in Canada and it is quite vital to have. This card expires every 5 years, so you need to fill out a form to apply again. If your PR card has expired or has less than 9 months to expire, then you must apply for it again. To apply for your PR card, you need to submit a copy of your application to IRCC (Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship’s Canada). Remember to follow and maintain all eligibility criteria for it. You have to follow this criterion if you lose your card or it gets misplaced.
Who Can Apply for PR Card Renewal?
1. A person who is a permanent resident of Canada already

There is one thing that you should keep in mind. Even if your PR card expires, you will still be a resident of Canada. Your residency status doesn’t change with your PR card expiration date. You can lose your permanent residency status under a few circumstances. That are-
